The Bishop Search Committee Shares the Diocesan Profile

Dear Friends,

The Bishop Search Committee, with the approval of the Standing Committee, is elated to share the Diocesan Profile with you and with the wider Church today. We hope every member of the diocese prayerfully reads through these pages of history, mission, ministry, finances, stories, hopes, and dreams. This profile is the first and primary way applicants to be the Ninth Bishop Diocesan for our diocese will get to know us. It has been a labor of love to assemble this profile and without your feedback it would not have been possible. Thank you!

Please read through this profile, click on the links, consider the data and stories, and prayerfully consider any priest who you might believe is called to this ministry with us. Then, share it with them! Personal invitation to priests whose gifts and skills match what we are seeking is one of the best tools for all of us to use as we seek applicants for this discernment process. So, please share this broadly in any way you can think of.

Some helpful notes:

  • This profile is best viewed as a website but it can be downloaded as a PDF in English or in Spanish. Links will still work in a downloaded PDF.
  • Applications remain open through the Second Sunday of Easter, April 7.
  • This is being distributed world-wide so many, many organizations, bishops, dioceses, and other ministries of The Episcopal Church will have access to this and will see what God is up to here through this profile.

You can find the profile by clicking the button below.

In addition, the Bishop Search Committee hopes every member of this diocese will read this profile too. It is a wonderful way for all of us to get to know ourselves a bit better. We hope that you will not only read it to learn more about our diocese for yourself but also that you will share it with everyone in your worshiping community.

This is a major milestone in this discernment in identifying candidates to introduce to our diocese who will stand for election as our next bishop. It is an exciting step and we take it filled with joy, hope, and gratitude. Over the entire process of assembling this profile, it has become more and more clear to us that God is active and moving among us in this diocese and we hope you catch some of that excitement as we all seek to follow the Holy Spirit in this process unfolding before us.

Please know you remain in our prayers as we ask you to keep us in yours.

"O Creator God, giver of every good gift, look graciously on us in the Diocese of West Missouri and guide us as we discern our call of a new bishop. O Jesus, be present in our discernment, and lead us to a shepherd who will invite us to live out the Gospel every day. O Holy Spirit, inspire us with your wisdom, and kindle our hearts with the fire of your love, that we may be renewed as we prepare to welcome the ministry of our next bishop. This we ask trusting in You. Amen."

Faithfully,
The Bishop Search Committee
