Continue to Share the Diocesan Profile

Dear Friends,

Just over two weeks ago, we published our Diocesan Profile both to our diocese and to the wider church. Since then, the profile has been posted on our website and social media channels, on the Episcopal News Service’s job postings board, and distributed via email to many, many groups throughout The Episcopal Church. We are grateful for the kind words we have received. Even more, though, we wish to underscore the Spirit-filled, life-giving ministries of this diocese–so much of which are captured in this profile. Thank you for your ministries!

We write today to remind you to share this profile far and wide. Any priest (or current bishop) of the church who is over 30 years old and having been ordained for 7 years is eligible to serve as bishop and can be nominated using the form in the profile. We know that personal invitations to those who possess the gifts we believe we are seeking are the best way to recruit folks to join us in this discernment. Please share it with anyone who you believe might be called to this ministry among us as our next bishop.

Please also share it with your communities and congregations. Through reading this profile, we all gain a deeper understanding of our own diocese: our history, our current ministries, the challenges and opportunities we face in the next season of our life together, and more. So, we hope you will read it and share it among your communities, too!

As of this writing, we continue to receive nominations and applications for persons considering this ministry. Our current plan is to do so through the Second Sunday of Easter, April 7. Please hold these candidates and us in your prayers as we all seek to know the will of God in all that we do, especially in this search process. Know that you, too, remain in our prayers.

May your Holy Week be transformative and your Easter be joyous and hope-filled!

"O Creator God, giver of every good gift, look graciously on us in the Diocese of West Missouri and guide us as we discern our call of a new bishop. O Jesus, be present in our discernment, and lead us to a shepherd who will invite us to live out the Gospel every day. O Holy Spirit, inspire us with your wisdom, and kindle our hearts with the fire of your love, that we may be renewed as we prepare to welcome the ministry of our next bishop. This we ask trusting in You. Amen."

Faithfully,
The Bishop Search Committee
